Principal Architect
Rossi Kourounis is a Northern Territory–grown, registered Architect and the Principal of Rossi Architects. With more than 20 years of professional experience, he has worked across a range of local architectural practices and construction companies before establishing and leading his own studio.
Rossi’s passion for architecture is driven by a commitment to creating high-quality, well-crafted environments for people. Throughout his career he has delivered a broad range of residential, commercial and educational projects, providing a strong and diverse foundation for the practice. His work reflects a careful balance between aesthetic clarity, functional design and a rigorous attention to detail.
As a proactive and collaborative leader, Rossi fosters a team-oriented studio culture, encouraging every team member to contribute meaningfully and develop a sense of ownership within each project. At the same time, he provides clear direction to ensure the studio consistently meets project programs, milestones and delivery expectations.
Rossi continues to explore and evolve his creative approach to architecture. In recognition of his contribution to the profession, he was awarded the 2014 Emerging Architect Prize by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Northern Territory Chapter.
Studio Lead | Architect
Maiya is a registered architect of the Northern Territory and is a Project Architect and Studio Lead at Rossi Architects. She completed her Bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Queensland.
She has worked in Far North and South East QLD, Darwin and surrounding regions, as well as remote community work in the NT. Maiya is enthusiastically enjoying her 6th year at RA, mostly focusing on the Larrakia Cultural Centre. Maiya is particularly passionate about passive tropical design, critical regionalism, and culturally responsive designs. Most of her
experience is in commercial, education, civic and cultural project typologies. Maiya is involved throughout all phases of projects, with a particular strength for navigating complex stakeholder engagements, then balancing their needs, aspirations and practicalities into meaningful design outcomes.
As a Studio Lead, Maiya supports the RA team and consultants we work with to generate a collaborative, and healthy working environment. While also contributing to business development to improve staff, client, stakeholder and studio outcomes.
In 2025, Maiya was awarded the Emerging Architects Prize of the Northern Territory for her work on the Larrakia Cultural Centre and for her industry volunteering and advocacy work.
Studio Lead | Senior Architectural Technician
Originally from Germany, Helena has called Darwin home since 2007, where she has developed a strong passion for tropical architecture. She has completed a number of technical courses and is currently undertaking her Bachelor of Architecture.
With more than 10 years of industry experience, Helena plays a key leadership role within the practice, managing projects from inception through to completion. Her work is defined by a
meticulous attention to detail across all stages of documentation, from early concept design through to comprehensive construction documentation.
Helena has a particular interest in thoughtful interiors and refined detailing. She also oversees the studio’s documentation standards while mentoring team members and contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the practice.
Architect
Maitrey is a registered Architect in the Northern Territory, and plays a key role within the Rossi Architects team. His education and professional experience across Australia and India have strengthened his expertise in tropical design and innovative architectural solutions.
Now in his fifth year with Rossi Architects in Darwin, Maitrey has contributed to a wide variety of building typologies, developing a rich and diverse project portfolio. His inquisitive and detail-oriented approach ensures his contributions are highly valuable across all stages of a project. He is closely involved in the documentation process, from initial concept design through to detailed construction drawings.
Beyond his work with Rossi Architects, Maitrey has participated in numerous commercial projects, bringing extensive experience and insight to that sector.
Architect
Dima returned to architectural practice five years ago following a period in academia and is now a Senior Graduate of Architecture at Rossi Architects. Having worked across environments ranging from desert regions to the tropics, she has developed a strong interest in remote and community-based design, and is deeply invested in delivering projects that support communities across the Northern Territory.
After completing her PhD and receiving the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award, Dima taught at the School of Architecture at QUT, focusing on the field of Humanitarian Architecture.Alongside her academic work, she has gained experience with several national and international practices.
Since moving to Darwin, Dima has contributed to more than 30 local projects, including feasibility studies and design development across a range of sectors.
Architectural Technician / Designer
Ayman is an Egyptian Architectural Technician and Designer at Rossi Architects. An architectural graduate with a Master’s degree, he has made Tropical Darwin in the Northern Territory his professional home. Passionate about the built environment and urban design, Ayman brings over fifteen years of local and international experience, having worked in Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Proficient in a wide range of architectural and visualisation softwares and BIM systems, he is a dynamic and ambitious technician with the design insight and development expertise to contribute across all phases of a project. Ayman has experience across diverse sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use developments, demonstrating both versatility and a commitment to high-quality architectural outcomes.
Graduate of Architecture
A Northern Territory local and RMIT Master of Architecture graduate, Billy received the Antonia Bruns Medal for his academic work. Growing up in remote regions of the NT, has shaped his interest in urban and architectural design and how strategic design can integrate the natural and urban environment. He favours a minimalist design aesthetic and enjoys the challenge of refining complex problems into simple, elegant solutions.
With experience at Troppo Architects, Billy is proficient in Revit and technical documentation, backed by a strong focus on detail-oriented problem solving. His additional background in marketing further assists in stakeholder engagement and project organisation. He is a collaborative professional committed to delivering vibrant, well-connected local spaces.
PA & Office Administrator
Justine is our Office Administrator, providing essential support that enables the team to perform at their best. Diligent and detail-oriented, she plays a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the studio. With strong organisational skills and a keen eye for accuracy, Justine ensures projects run smoothly by efficiently handling a wide range of administrative tasks. Her methodical approach and proactive mindset make her a reliable and valued member of the team, maintaining the studio’s operational effectiveness. Justine’s dedication and commitment to excellence reflect the high standards upheld at Rossi Architects.
Studio Manager / Project Architect - Vacancy
Rossi Architects is seeking an experienced, proactive Studio Manager / Project Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving our practice forward. Working closely with the Principal Architect, you will balance day-to-day office operations with the hands-on delivery of architectural projects. We are looking for an exceptional leader who thrives on team building and studio culture, fostering a collaborative, supportive environment where design talent is nurtured, workflows are streamlined, and high standards are consistently upheld across the practice.
In this dual-capacity role, you will take direct ownership of assigned projects while driving overall project coordination and deadline management. You will lead project teams through all stages of design, documentation, and contract administration, ensuring key milestones are met efficiently without compromising design quality. As a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, you will act as an operational anchor for the studio—combining strong managerial acumen with refined technical expertise to keep our projects and office running seamlessly.
